How to avoid Heat Stroke this summer! E-mail
As the weather is getting hotter we will be taking extra precautions to ensure your animals won't get heat stroke when in our care.

Heat stroke is extremely serious and can kill!

Signs like -

  • Excessive panting
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Collapsing
  • Fitting

may all be signs of heat stroke.

Also be aware that vehicles are very hot inside at this time of year, so please think again about taking your dog(s) in your vehicle. (Never leave your dog(s) in a vehicle either without proper ventilation).

How to avoid your dog(s) from getting heat stroke -

  • Walking them as early or late as possible in the day when the temperature is at it's coolest
  • Walking in shady areas
  • Providing plenty of fresh water
  • Not taking them or leaving them in your vehicles without proper ventilation
  • If your dog has a long coat think about having them clipped all over for the summer months

If you think your dog(s) have heat stroke you should contact your veterinary surgeon immediately!
